Hey everyone! This month, Project DAYBREAK has been fairly productive with finishing up the boss mechanics and now adding a bunch to the
environment. Development is going smoothly and it’s mostly just modeling furniture/items now. I’ve also simplified multiple old systems and
made them far better for running in-game. I’m hoping that this will run very smoothly on a lot of devices!
Currently, the roadmap is to finish this level’s environment, add any mechanics that need to be done like item functionalities, introduce new
enemies and their mechanics, then make the title menus and start on the next levels. Seems like a lot, and it is, but I think it’s going to be
really cool in the end!
The huge environmental updates that I’ve done have been adding interaction with things like drawers and cabinets, so the level just seems so
much more lively now. That, and adding a ton of new furniture and items into the game. When the new enemies get there, I really think this is
going to be spooky! The general feel and scary ambience of this level is what I’m trying to pin down at the moment, though.
I’ve taken a lot of inspiration from games like Phasmophobia recently and I feel like that’s gonna show in the final product. It’s definitely taken
a lot of twists and turns along the way with the creative direction of the game, and that will continue to happen until it’s very close to being
done. That’s often how the best games come to life though! It may take a long time, but delivering a good game for everyone to enjoy is
better than getting it finished quickly. :)
