Hello everybody! This last month has been fairly chaotic for me so I haven’t been able to get as much work done as I’d like to have. However,
in the last week or so I’ve been able to make a couple of breakthroughs on mechanics, trying to flesh out how the final build will look and
feel.
First, news with Project DAYBREAK: Most of this month (that I’ve been able to work) has been level design. I want it to be unique and not just a
static level so there are quite a few moving parts here. I think I’ve finally figured out what it’s going to be, though. For a long time before last
month, the game looked and felt very similar to the backrooms with completely random room layouts and repetitive hallways. If I was going
for that, I did that perfectly. Sadly though, that’s not quite how my vision of the game looks and that doesn’t work very well for good
gameplay. The layouts are not random now, but there is still quite a bit of randomness in the level. I can’t say how it fully works but there is
still going to be a lot of variety!
There’s still a long way to go. With this change, I’ll be going back on a little progress but hopefully, it will allow me to move forward with the
project in May and afterward. Also, I’d like to note that April 30th was Project DAYBREAK’s development anniversary! This project has officially
been in development for a full year. This is the longest I’ve taken with a game so far since FNaTS 1 and 2 only took me about 8 months each.
I’d love to get this done very soon though. Hopefully, I can get some momentum going with this big change.
Now, just a little bit of website news: I’ve fully revamped the entire footer and added a ton of links to different things like
our mission and
how to contact us. There’s a lot of company stuff and how we handle things down there, so if you’re interested, go ahead and take a look! The
Terms of Service page is the only one that I haven’t fully written out at the time of writing this. Everything else should work well!
That’s all for this month. If you have any questions, feel free to leave a comment below or contact us via email!
