Hello everyone! Man, a lot of things happened this month. It feels like it flew by but at the same time, it’s gone super slowly. Anyways, here’s
what has been going on with Project DAYBREAK specifically. Nothing else this month!
To start off, the main mechanic and punishment system for the game has FINALLY been chosen and I’ve started implementing it as well. It will
hopefully be very multiplayer friendly, and I believe it’s going to be pretty fun as well! This has been something that I’ve sort of struggled with
when developing this game, so it’s nice to finally see it come together like this.
With the way I’m making this game, I’ve realized that with some small tweaking to a few systems, it’s going to be very moddable. Hopefully, if I
can do this right, the modding and making of levels will be similar to Minecraft in the aspect that you just import it in and the game will
automatically recognize and start using it, with no outside software needed. That being said, I’m still working out the kinks in that system, so it
might not be as versatile when the game fully releases. We’ll definitely have to see, but I’m very excited at the thought of this being moddable!
As you may have guessed with the way I said that; There will be multiple levels to this game that will be quite different from each other in a
lot of different aspects, including overall design, the enemies, etc. However, they won’t be disconnected from each other story-wise.
I’ve mainly been working on one specific level of this game for testing purposes and working out performance issues with this level, but once
I’m happy with it and can start on others, I believe that it’s going to go by a lot faster since I’d be working from a base game mechanic
instead of just making a level and seeing where it goes.
Finally, to end off I think it’s appropriate to finally announce that I’ll be working with Kyle Misko
for the music production of this game! I’m
looking forward to hearing the music for this game because Kyle has made a lot of really good stuff. Check him out!
That’s it for this month! Stay safe, and happy Halloween!
