Hi! What’s going on? :)
To start this month off, obviously, the site has been totally revamped! It’s a lot easier to move around the website now, and it’s way more simple too.
For some reason, I really like the black-and-white aesthetic that it has now. It just feels a lot more useable to me.
Also real quick, it’s officially been a full year since our first developer log on the site! You can check out the first one (July 2020) here. 🥳
Anyways, I’ve done a little work on Project DAYBREAK this month. First off, it has been mostly figuring out a monster design for this level of the
game and learning how to rig and texture a character like this. I’ve also been pretty stuck on a narrative and direction for this game, so I’ve
been thinking about that this month quite a bit.
Some features that I’m planning on putting in the game are going to be, well, interesting to try and implement. I’ve got the main part of level
generation done, but there’s a lot that I think would be nice to try and put into this game to make it that much more of an experience.
Most likely things along the lines of:
VR Support; I know I said that I wanted to implement that into FNaTS 2, but with this game, it’d be a lot easier I presume. Especially since it’s not after release.
Proximity chat, and by proxy multiplayer. This feels like the type of game that would be extremely fun with friends, so I want to see if I can implement that!
Implementing proximity chat would mean that the monsters in the game would also hear you talking, so you’d have to be quiet around them ;)
Many types of levels, I’m even thinking about randomizing them to generate completely different each time, but that may take a lot of time.
So, to end off, I have no idea how long this project may take, but I’m hoping that within the next month I can get a general estimate once I
start gaining momentum on it!
As much as I’ve been stuck, I am very excited to release this game. I’m trying to take my time on it to make it the best game it can be, so I
hope that it ends up being really fun! :)
See you all next month, cheers! :D
