Hello everyone! Gosh, it sure has been a minute huh? I haven't posted one of these since May!
I can't believe it's been that long, but either way, it's good to be back! To address the elephant in the room, it's very clear
that the site has been thoroughly updated with new fonts, a new general look, faster loading times, and the biggest change of all: moving off of Squarespace.
I went through the effort of learning HTML, CSS, and a little bit of JavaScript so that I could fully code the website myself.
I'm sure you're thinking, "well, that's cool, but what does that really mean?" I'm glad you asked, dear reader! It means that I now have the option of making Innate Games into more than just
a personal blog or place to post my games as it has been, but something much bigger. I've been thinking about doing this for a while and now I actually have the option. I could, in theory,
make Innate Games into a platform for others to sell their games and post developer logs in the same way I use it, which I personally think would be incredible.
That is indeed a wonderful option for the future of this site, but the actual switchover was just a personal project so that I could learn how to do it.
Still incredibly cool to me though! I enjoyed prettying it up and making it completely from scratch, it was a really nice little project to take a break from Project Daybreak.
Speaking of that project, it is still very much in the works. I may not have posted much about it but that's because I've been focusing on making the game instead of,
well, talking about it. The thing that has kept me working on it for so long is, unsurprisingly, the networking system. I was going to use a premade one but I couldn't figure out how
to implement it in without changing way too much. There's also the fact that I wanted to learn what networking really was and how the internet works, so I just dove in head first
and started making the system from scratch. That could be considered a mistake, especially if you look at it from the timing of its completion perspective, but it's a wonderful
learning experience and I have loved doing it. (Even if I've wanted to bang my head against a wall several times.)
I'm definitely not going to say that the project will be completed soon, I've made that mistake in the past and it's gone pretty badly for me, but progress is slow and steady. Soon-ish
I'll be done with that system and I can actually move on to completing the game. After that, who knows, maybe I'll go forward with that whole platform idea. :)
Anyways, I have definitely enjoyed converting the site over and that's the main thing I wanted to talk about. There are new interaction mechanics where you can hover over images
like the covers on the homepage and get a little outline around it, as well as some general text hovering mechanics. On the game pages themselves,
I prettied them up and added more interaction there too. Check out the original FNaTS page especially, it looks way better than it did in Squarespace.
That's about all! I'll try and post here more often since it's been literal months but I won't make any promises. xD
I'm still kicking around here! I might not have said a lot but I'm definitely still working on Project Daybreak. Innate Games isn't gone either.
Thanks for reading, and feel free to go around and check out how the site has changed. It's lost some functionality like comments but I'm planning on adding that back as soon as I can
figure out an account system and everything.
Anyways, that's all! Have a good rest of your week. :)

Owner and Sole Developer
